Teen Challenge has recognized several After-School Learning Centers and Prevention Programs considered encouraging children and youth to achieve their highest academic and individual prospective.

The function or purpose of The After-School Learning and Children Prevention Programs is to avoid substance abuse among at-risk children and teenagers and attract and enable a new generation of young leaders to become world changers.

The long-term ambition for each child is the developed as a young person with life and guidance skills, educational and career aspirations, and a capability to learn independently. To achieve shorter-term ambition, as soon as your kids become part of the After School Learning Program, they are set on a path for:

• Strengthened analytical skills.
• Life and work skills development.
• Sense of self-confidence and an ability to plan for the future.
• Drugs and alcohol abuse prevention.
• Improved grades and passing or excelling in classes.
• Improved behavior and attitudes toward family, school and community.

The big number of the centers also includes outreach and drug prevention initiatives that contain motivational speakers, school assemblies and gang and/or dispossessed interventions.

Consequently, one of the first steps in developing a learning society is the identification and construction of processes to encourage more equal opportunity between teachers and students.

This is not only an issue of democratic system, but is fundamental to a new spirit that schools require to build. That original spirit will locate the importance of knowledge in a common conversation between partners and not in a monologue that is based on power.

This is an example that requires to be learned in developing and developed countries, a lesson in the development of skills for both teachers and students that permit distribution and encourage honesty in institutional events and practices.
