Definition: - ODD is a psychiatric disorder that is characterized by two different sets of problems. These are aggressiveness and a trend to firmly bother and irritate others. It is often the reason that people seek treatment. When ODD is available with ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, or other neuropsychiatric disorders, it makes life with that teen far more hard. For Example, ADHD plus ODD is a lot inferior to ADHD alone, often sufficient to make people seek treatment.

Causes: - It is not obvious what causes of Oppositional Defiant Disorder. There are currently two theories. The developmental theory suggests that ODD is actually a result of incomplete growth. For some reason, ODD teens never complete the developmental responsibilities that normal teen master during the toddler years. They get stuck in the 2-3 year old disobedient stage and never actually grow out of it.

The learning theory suggests that Oppositional Defiant Disorder comes as a reply to negative relations. The techniques used by parents and ability figures on these teens bring about the oppositional disobedient behavior.

• Being easily angered, resentful, spiteful, or vindictive.
• Speaking harshly, or unkind when upset
• Seeking revenge
• Having frequent temper tantrums
• Deliberately annoying other people
• Blaming others for ones own mistakes

Treatment: - Medical Intervention
There have been some fresh studies that have examined the effects of definite medications on Oppositional Defiant Disorder. All the study is preliminary and suggests that definite treatments may help.

One study examined the use of Retalin to treat children with both ADHD and ODD. This study say that 90% of the teenager treated with Ritalin no longer had the ODD by the end of the study. There have been two studies examining the effect of stratteraon kids with both ADHD and ODD.
