Suicide Prevention Program



Identification and early involvement of mental and substance addiction disorders is the most efficient way to avoid suicide and suicidal behavior.

It has shown in researches that suicide prevention programs expected to succeed are those focused on recognition and treatment of mental illness and substance addiction, coping with stress, and controlling aggressive behaviors.

In planning, implementing, or evaluating suicide avoidance labors, we require thinking about individual programs and prevention strategies. Although these avoidance programs are characteristically comprehensive, many program directors advise implementing one part at a time, in order to get the activity entirely operational before new program components are added.

In addition, the types of assessment questions that require to be asked will be quite unlike for various types of prevention strategies. Therefore, this report has been organized according to major program components and strategies.

There are running many programs at national and international label for preventing of youth suicide as:

*Screening Programs
*School Gatekeeper training.
*Peer Support Programs etc.
*General Suicide Education

This avoidance program consists of activities intended to restrict access to handguns, drugs, and other common means of suicide.

The Yellow Ribbon Suicide Avoidance Program is a community-based outreach program of Light for Life Foundation International. Yellow Ribbon provides a program that teaches about the interior environment of depression and loneliness. This program had become very successful in preventing suicide of adolescence.

Strategies have been developed to handle with the crisis occasionally caused by one or more adolescence suicides in a community. They are planned in part to help prevent or contain suicide clusters and to help teens effectively cope with feelings of loss that come with the unexpected death or suicide of a peer. Avoiding additional suicides is but one of numerous goals of interventions prepared with friends and relatives of a suicide victim.
