Ascent Center is residential treatment center for troubled teen’s ages of 13 to 18 years which is located in beautiful Selkirk Mountain Range of the Idaho Panhandle and licensed by the state of Idaho and accredited by the joint commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The ascent team helps the child to break their destructive behaviors patterns, feel greater self worth and reconnect with their inner strength and resources by providing them wilderness program and some other programs.
The process begins in the center with a physical examination of students including related lab work in their base camps. Students live in two base camps and sleep in large tip is erected on wooden platforms that are heated in winter. They focus on establishing a regular routine for their students to assure good self-care, nutritional well balanced meals, daily exercise and adequate sleep. They have multi faceted staff members of clinical professionals to help children to discover their abilities.
Ascent’s curriculum is divided in to four phases for their students: -
- Orientation: awareness of self
- Pre-course: responsibility for actions
- Course: experimentation with new behaviors
- Transition: transfer of new skills and roles
These four phases are most important part of the center to educate their children. The center offers wide variety of programs to their students which include Comprehensive evaluation process, Individual sessions, Group therapy, Substance abuse education, Experiential learning activities and much more. The average length of stay in the center is 45 days. They also include family participation in their center with their students in written communication, scheduled weekly calls and three day family workshop.
